After getting a tattoo and applying Second Skin, it's crucial to follow proper aftercare instructions to ensure your tattoo heals well. Here are some steps to follow:

1. Leave the Second Skin on for the recommended time: Your tattoo artist will advise you on how long to keep the Second Skin on. Typically, it's left on for 3-4 days.

2. Remove the Second Skin gently: When it's time to remove it, do so carefully. Peel it off slowly, in the direction of hair growth, to avoid damaging the tattoo.

3. Wash your tattoo with mild soap and water: After removing the Second Skin, gently wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat it dry with a clean, soft towel.

4. **Apply a Thin Layer of lotion** Apply a very thin layer of fragrance-free lotion. (or Hustle Butter) Don't overdo it; just keep the tattoo moisturized.

5. **Keep It Clean**: Wash your tattoo once a day for the first two days after the bandage comes off and apply a fresh layer of lotion each time. Avoid submerging it in water, especially in pools or hot tubs.

6. **Avoid Sun Exposure**: Protect your tattoo from direct sunlight and tanning beds during the healing process. UV rays can fade the colors.

7. **Don't Pick or Scratch**: It's essential not to pick scabs or scratch your tattoo as it can lead to scarring and color loss.

8. **Loose Clothing**: Wear loose-fitting clothing over the tattooed area to prevent friction and irritation.

9. **Stay Hydrated and Eat Well**: A healthy diet and proper hydration can aid in the healing process.

10. **Follow Your Artist's Advice**: Your tattoo artist may have specific recommendations; follow their instructions carefully.

11. **Be Patient**: Healing times vary, but it usually takes 2-4 weeks for a tattoo to fully heal. Until then, be patient and take care of it.
